Priorities

As of 1st July 2022, the Czech Republic assumes the role of a Member State presiding the European Union. It will hold the presidency for the second time during its 18-year-long EU membership. The Presidency is a huge opportunity to raise topics essential for the Czech Republic and its citizens on the European level. Moreover, the Czech Republic has a chance to prove its potential of a leader capable of leading discussions and searching for common solutions to key challenges.

The Czech Republic will take over the Presidency from France and will be followed by Sweden. In order to maintain continuity in the EU leadership, it is customary for the three successive presidencies (TRIO) to agree on a common framework, the 18-month programme. This programme is then taken into account by each member of the TRIO during their Presidency. The Czech Republic, including the Ministry of Regional Development, was actively involved in the development of the programme.

For the duration of the EU Presidency, the Ministry of Regional Development has set the following priorities:
