ARRIVAL
If you decide to arrive in the Czech Republic by public transport, you can choose from air, rail, or bus travel. All the traffic nods are very well connected by the public transport network. Public city transport timetables can be found on the following websites: PID, IDOS, DPP or in a PID mobile application. Travelling by car is also possible, but we recommend to use public transport due to the risk of traffic jams. Within Prague, there are naturally also taxi services operating, including Uber, Bolt, and Liftago companies.
Václav Havel Airport is Prague’s main airport situated in the north-western part of Prague. There are two public terminals at the airport: Terminal 1, checking-in flights to states outside the Schengen Area and inter-continental flights, and Terminal 2 with flights from the Schengen Area.
The airport is readily connected with the city centre by means of public transport:
- Bus No. 119, changing to metro line A at Nádraží Veleslavín
- Bus No. 100, changing to metro line B at Zličín
- AE shuttle bus (Airport Express, terminal station is at the main railway station Hlavní nádraží. The ticket costs CZK 100 and you can buy it from the driver)
Bus stops are right in front of the exits from both terminals, and you will also find taxi posts here.
All foreign trains arrive at the main railway station Hlavní nádraží. Depending on the location of your accommodation or the event, it is also possible to get off at train stops Praha-Holešovice, Masarykovo nádraží, or Smíchovské nádraží. The largest bus terminals in the city centre are situated at Florenc, or eventually at Na Knížecí.
TRANSPORT TO CONFERENCES
Conferences organized by the Ministry of Regional Development in Prague are held at three locations in different parts of the city. Each is easily accessible from the centre and public transport stops immediately nearby. To take a ride within the city centre, it is usually sufficient to purchase a 30-minute ticket, which costs approx. CZK 30, and you can get it on-line, via a text message, directly in the tram, or from a ticket machine in metro vestibules.
AVI (Akademie veřejného investování – Public Investment Academy) is situated directly in the building of the Ministry of Regional Development at Staroměstské náměstí in Prague 1.
